Description: Work with engineering team on system design, operation, and maintenance. Must have a strong understanding of reactor engineering, as well as high pressure and high temperature systems. Will also work with engineering team on system scaling system and specification for specific project requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development/management of the projects PFDs, P&ID’s, functional logic tables, critical safety valve tables and operating procedures/training manuals (O&M manuals).
• Generation of design/engineering and design change packages
• Origination of setpoint calculations
• Specification of instrumentation and control elements/ control valves
• Generation of instrument and control valve data sheets and material requisitions
• Assist with Management and provide input into the plant design by reviewing piping and instrumentation model and overall facility arrangement (Pilot Plan).
• Coordination of physical locations of instrumentation, control valves, control cabinets, etc.
• Design and review of cabinet layouts
• Industrial control system: Distributed Control System (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
• Solid/ gas, Gas/liquid, Gas/ gas separation system design. Machinery, control valve, and relief system process specification
• Hazard and operability reviews
• On site performance test and troubleshooting
• Process cycle synthesis and selection, PFD development, Aspen Plus simulations
• Process Unit/ Plant Commissioning/ startup and Performance Tests
• Some travel to plant and supplier facilities may be required.

Capabilities:

• Aspen Plus
• Solidworks – a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (Other engineering majors considered with applicable experience) with 0-5 years’ experience.
• Desired experience would be in new plant engineering with a strong focus on plant operations and plant startups.
• The applicant should possess or have the aptitude to acquire a balanced multi-discipline understanding in Process Engineering, Process Systems, and Process Safety disciplines.
• The applicant must communicate effectively and seek out technical expertise as required.
• Travel may be required, both domestic and international. Travel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and Air Products Engineering Office (estimated at 0-15%/year).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Codes and Standards pertinent to control systems engineering and oil & gas or nuclear industry.
• Familiar with or course work using industry wide Control Systems system calculation/design tools, such as instrument set-point calculation software, CAD 2D and loop designing software.

Process Safety Engineering:

• Assist with preparation and execution of plant Hazard Reviews
• Evaluate Plant Process Safety
• Assist with assuring compliance with local Safety Regulatory Code
• Help develop safety solutions for our projects
• Identify and manage process controls technical risk items
• Perform Root Cause and participate in accident investigations
• Participate and help plan field-commissioning activities, Plant Start-up and assist with the development and implementation of reliability test plans.
