We’re looking for an experienced EHS Supervisor to lead safety, environmental, and health programs in our distribution center. In this role, you’ll partner with site leadership to create a safe, compliant, and continuously improving work environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field
5+ years of EHS experience in a high volume Distribution Center
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (1910), hazard waste (RCRA), and safety programs
Experience with forklifts, machine guarding, LOTO, and ergonomics
Strong communication, training, and leadership skills
CSP or ASP certification preferred

The Long Version:
The EHS Supervisor encompasses leadership of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across the Distribution Center. Lead Safety & Environmental Initiatives
Lead and guide all site employees to foster a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible distribution center.
Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and facilitating continuous Environmental, Health, & Safety objectives and improvements for the entire distribution center.
Develop and implement EHS policies in alignment with Saint-Gobain EHS and Risk Management Standards.
Drives continuous improvement, lean, and 5S methodologies to improve the safety, health, environment, and security of associates at the distribution center.
Initiate ergonomic studies and develop risk assessments to maintain safe work procedures.
Guides DC team in risk assessments, behavior-based safety programs, performs safety and environmental audits.
Coordinates and conducts monthly EHS Team meetings.
Works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Must focus on customers' expectations and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees.
Provide primary EHS support to the DC management team. This will include evaluating EHS data, meeting regularly with management to provide updates and recommendations, and providing technical guidance on EHS issues specific to the DC, providing guidance on annual planning for the facility and prioritize EHS initiatives.
Responsible for timely reporting of monthly EHS KPI’s and incident data.
This position interprets regulations and defines solutions that are in compliance while meeting the needs of the DC.
Proficiency in federal regulations, as well as specific knowledge on state and local related regulations.
Perform periodic EHS assessments concentrating on special focus areas such as powered industrial vehicles, hand protection, management of contractors, risk assessments. Findings are assembled in formal report and are reviewed with site management team. An action plan is developed to close out recommendations.
Highlight options for behavior-based safety programs that will be best matched to the DC needs, available resources and nature of risks that are present.
Leads assessment, analysis and management of the operational risks including risk mitigation, prevention and communication.
Provide direct EHS support to the DC. This includes training, permitting, technical reviews, on-site technical support, incident investigations, leading special projects, SG program rollouts, agency interaction (EH&S related), regulatory evaluation and response (EHS related), and auditing.
Ensure alignment with the Region and Business objectives in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety.
The EHS Supervisor will also work with key contacts in the Region and Abrasives NAM BU EHS&S to align support and strategy in their area of responsibility.
Compliance (Records, Reporting, Audits)
Strict adherence and a commitment to carrying out the Corporate and/or local policies, state, federal laws, OSHA/DOT/EPA rules, and regulations is required.
Conducts exposure monitoring (i.e noise)
Maintain site EHS procedures, policies, training and compliance records.
Completes local, state, and federal reports on a timely basis with collaboration of Plant Manager, which includes, but is not limited to, corporate and regulatory reporting for Work Place Injury Log, GAIA, and Risk Management Reporting.
Maintains records of all hazardous waste management operations regarding waste generated.
This includes recordkeeping of waste management and prepares all reports as required by law, such as SARA form R reports and TIER II reports.
Oversees all EHS related audits both internal and external.
Proactively drives awareness and communicates best practices related to EHS.
Requirements
BS in Occupational Safety and Health Management or related study Bachelors degree focusing on occupational safety/health- Required
CSP or ASP Certified Safety Professional / Associate Safety Professional – Preferred
5-10 years EHS experience Experience in logistics and or a manufacturing EHS role-Required
Powered Industrial truck, machine guarding, ergonomics to include workplace evaluation, and managing behavior-based safety programs are important areas of experience needed for this role-Required
Excellent communication skills written and oral and analytical skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must be a team player. Required
Experience operating and training to powered industrial trucks in a logistics environment. Required
Knowledge and experience working with EPA Hazardous Waste including RCRA compliance, and Universal Waste disposal. Required
Knowledge and experience with NFPA and FM Global Fire protection systems for ignitable liquids and flammable aerosols, risk management experience related to business continuity planning, fire protection and general industrial risk mitigation. Required
Experience in implementing and maintaining a Fall Protection program, knowledge of fall protection standards for general industry application. Required
Experience in automated logistics environment with packaging, conveyors and related regarding machine guarding, lock out – tag out and related EHS aspects. Required
Knowledge/understanding and application of CFR 1910 General Industry Standards, with emphasis on Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, and Lock Out Tag Out. Required
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. Prioritizing and modifying based on changing direction and operational impacts. Required
Flexibility to be available for off shift needs, such as events, incidents or other operational needs. Required
High level of Analytical Skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team with a sense of urgency. Required
Computer literate Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint. With the ability to analyze data, trending, displaying and discussing. Required
Experience in conducting training, delivering and communicating EHS related topics to a variety of learners/trainees. Preferred
Knowledge of root cause determination techniques and workplace incident investigation. Knowledge/experience in conducting task-based risk assessments. Preferred
Experience in Workers Compensation claim management, including managing work related injuries, working with occupational providers to manage WC cases Preferred
Strong leadership skills with a collaborative style to drive continuous improvement. Preferred Familiarity and experience with WCM methodology Preferred
