Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Lexington based biotech company is seeking a highly motivated engineer to support the development of respiratory drug products. The candidate will support the development and scale up of pulmonary drug products, contribute to CMC project teams, and meet goals within aggressive timelines.

The Product Engineer will apply engineering and manufacturing principals to evaluate devices for dry powder inhalation. The work environment is highly collaborative, requires excellent communication skills and the ability to be part of a cross-functional product development team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, document, and perform engineering studies to develop, optimize, and transfer manufacturing processes for new drug products.
  • Prepare protocols and summary reports for process development and manufacturing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal groups and external CMOs to organize and conduct development and manufacturing campaigns.
  • Supervise technical staff during execution of experimental studies.
  • Apply technical knowledge to respond to issues encountered during development and scale-up activities.
  • Conducts Risk Assessments as required
  • Support/oversee batch manufacture for development, pre-clinical and clinical studies
  • Support development and optimization of methods to characterize the aerosol performance of formulations.
  • Perform aerosol performance characterization of solid-based inhalation dosage forms

Primary Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA/MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical R&D
  • Strong engineering fundamentals
  • Familiarity/experience with medical device manufacturing particularly dry powder inhalers is a plus. - Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical and/or electronics aptitude, and/or previous experience with pilot labs and/or hands-on controls engineering, is a plus
