Road and Highway Builders is looking for a Heavy Civil Project Engineer that has experience in Heavy Highway Construction.
Road and Highway Builders LLC., (RHB) is the industry leader in heavy civil construction as well as large-scale excavation, highway, dam and airport runway construction. RHB contracts with State and Local agencies as well as Federal Agencies and the FAA. Currently, RHB is operating in Nevada, California, Hawaii, Utah, and in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Founded in 1999, the company has experience, expertise and qualified personnel to tackle projects ranging from $200,000 to $200 million.
Position_Description :
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our team on Kauai. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in the field environment and is eager to take initiative, manage multiple responsibilities, and support the successful execution of complex civil projects.
What you can offer us!
Field Quantity Tracking & Reporting: Perform daily measurement and tracking of installed quantities; prepare quantity reports to support billing, production analysis, and project forecasting.
SWPPP & Permit Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), environmental permits, and all applicable regulatory requirements through inspections, BMP tracking, and documentation.
Material Inventory Management: Coordinate material deliveries and maintain accurate inventory logs; assist with procurement and tracking of long-lead and critical-path materials.
Field Documentation & Reporting: Prepare daily reports, maintain photo logs, and document ongoing construction activities to support project records, claims, and quality assurance.
Project Support & Coordination: Work closely with Project Manager, Superintendent, and foremen to support day-to-day field operations and resolve issues that impact schedule or quality.
Document Control & Technical Support: Support RFI/submittal tracking, field sketches, as-built documentation, and work plan development. Maintain organized field documentation records.
Safety & Environmental Oversight: Assist with enforcing project safety protocols and environmental controls in accordance with contract and regulatory requirements.
Job Closeout: Support punch-list tracking, as-built submittals, and turnover documentation.

Position Requirements :
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction (roadways, utilities, grading, sitework)
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with AutoCAD, HeavyJob, and Viewpoint V6 a plus
Highly organized, self-driven, and detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team player with a strong sense of field awareness and construction processes
