Description
The Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH-ODW) is receiving applications for available environmental engineering positions in its Abingdon, Danville, and Lexington regional offices. These positions manage regulatory compliance, provide technical assistance, conduct on-site inspections, and evaluate submitted engineering documents for an assigned number of the 170 water treatment plants and 2800 public water systems in Virginia. VDH-ODW regional offices are collaborative, responsive, and committed to our goal of protecting public health and helping to ensure all Virginians have a safe and adequate supply of drinking water.

Requirements
1. Demonstrated knowledge of and applied experience in biology, microbiology, chemistry, core engineering principles, and quantitative analysis.
2. Established experience in exercising sound judgement and making well-informed engineering decisions.
3. Experience in conveying technical information clearly, engage with different audiences, and preparing comprehensive technical reports.
4. Proven experience in interpreting, analyzing, and applying applicable laws, regulations, policies, and complex technical documentation.
5. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to effectively manage and develop professional staff.
6. Comprehensive engineering expertise in water-related disciplines, including civil, sanitary, environmental, or chemical engineering.
