Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a highly motivated and ambitious Project Engineer - Water Resources in Charlotte, NC. Typical Duties Include:
- Perform and/or conduct hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, and water quality analysis of open channel and/or closed conduit stormwater collection systems for large and small-scale development projects and watersheds.
- Preparation and review of one- and two-dimensional hydrologic/hydraulic models, FEMA CLOMR/LOMR applications, documents and exhibits and drainage reports.
- Ability to effectively interpret and communicate model input parameters, assumptions and results with an understanding of how to apply a level of engineering judgement to troubleshoot model anomalies.
- Ability to design site-specific best management practices (BMPs) to achieve permitting requirements including conventional, low impact development, green infrastructure and stormwater volume control BMPs.
- Ability to perform opinions of construction costs for stormwater related projects, including open/closed system drainage rehabilitation, canals and flood control structures.
- Preferred - Ability to use HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, XPSWMM, ArcMap, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MS Office
- 5+ years of experience
- An understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or discipline
- EIT registration strongly preferred
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer License within one year of hire strongly preferred
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and organization skills.
- Must be willing to work in a in a team setting with great communication skills.
- Ability to learn various software programs.
