ACS’s business is founded on the delivery of R&D facilities using a holistic approach including an understanding of the science behind what we do. We are a Madison Wisconsin based company which evolved from an entrepreneurial base responding to our client’s needs and definition of successful delivery. ACS’s Mission is to “Deliver Innovative and Integrated Facility, Equipment and Systems Solutions”. We provide our integrated design and construction services for technically complex R&D and Testing facilities, many of which are in the engine & vehicle test and product development markets.
Company History
ACS is an international integrated design and construction services provider specializing in the delivery of complex facility solutions. Working in a variety of capacities, our qualified staff, which consists of engineering and construction specialists, has the specific expertise required to deliver value focused services.
The history of ACS dates back to 1927, when Flad & Associates began providing architectural and engineering services to the local community of Madison, Wisconsin. As the firm grew and markets changed, Flad & Associates began focusing on technically complex facility projects throughout the United States. Changing market dynamics and client demand offered the organization the opportunity to spin off a separate organization focused solely on engineering, called Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in 1978.
In the late 1980’s, two legacy clients of the organization, Harley-Davidson Motor Company and John Deere, asked the firms to provide turnkey delivery of several projects that were in design. AEI Principal Tim Peckham discussed these opportunities with both clients, specifically requesting the key services they would desire to see in a firm that specialized in providing unique engineering and construction services. Key components requested were:
? Integrated delivery model
? Extension of staff services
? Open book cost accounting
? Single source project responsibility including commissioning
? A team based environment where the client, the services provider, and all vendors were treated as partners.
The organization took this opportunity to create ACS, Inc., with the focus on providing these integrated services. ACS continues to work with Harley-Davidson Motor Company and John Deere throughout North America, continually reinforcing our commitment to teamwork and long relationships. Our client list has grown considerably and now includes many other Fortune 500 and 100 firms.
ACS’s recent work for Perkins Engine Company (Caterpillar) in Peterborough, UK, caused us to form a separately incorporated company in the UK. The new firm, ACS, Ltd., has now added clients in several other countries, including North Ireland, China, Poland, Germany, etc.
