Company Overview
Membrion is a dynamic start-up company that has created a unique ceramic ion-exchange membrane to filter molecules in harsh environments. We've developed our novel nanoporous membrane using silica gel, a common desiccant in food packaging. Our innovation allows us to deliver high performance inorganic membranes at a radically lower cost than existing polymer-based membrane solutions. Our current product development efforts are focused on membranes for low cost water desalination and flow batteries, which will enable grid-scale renewable energy storage to be more commercially viable, with biopharma membranes in the near future. Membrion has been named one of the University of Washington's most promising new start-ups, recently winning the UW Business Plan Competition and a National Innovation Award as well as receiving significant press from GeekWire, Xconomy & the UW College of Engineering.
