SABIC is one of the world's largest chemical companies with annual production in excess of 50 million tons and business representation in every major country. The principal products are commodity chemicals and plastics. SABIC operates technology centers in Asia, in the US, and in Europe. Most of the manufacturing capacity is situated in Saudi Arabia, and much of the marketing is done in the Far East. Company headquarters are in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Company History
SABIC was founded in 1976 initially using technology acquired from leading global petrochemical companies. The company grew rapidly and had established a global outreach within the first twenty years. It subsequently acquired major businesses in Europe (DSM plastics) and in the US (General Electric Engineering Plastics) and is now recognised as the world's most profitable Chemical
Company.
